Wedding Season Pep Talk

Hello wedding season 2022! The break has been great, and now it’s time to get back to work! Last year was a monumental year of weddings and “covid rebound” weddings that broke my yearly average. I’ve truly seen it all. And is it me, or does someone always leave behind a pair of shoes or a solo shoe? And who gets married in the dead of summer down here? I’m truly convinced these venues tell clients, who aren’t from the south, that it’s completely normal to to get married in full formal during August. August is a brutal month to get married in. I’ve had one bride in a bathroom during her cocktail hour. First, her outdoor celebration resulted in a torrential downpour. Thankfully we were at a museum and the space could easily be flipped! Due to rain, and extreme heat, her poor hair and makeup didn’t stand a chance. And that’s what led us to the meltdown in the bathroom. Between a wedding guest and myself, we finger rolled her hair back together and retouched her makeup. After giving her a mirror pep talk, she was ready to greet her guests for cocktail hour.

Why did I take the extra step? Well… it’s my job security. I’m here to make sure the day moves smoothly for her big day. If she would have pondered on her humid day, she would not have been happy at the reception. Upset brides can make a dancefloor feel very tense. I’ve seen enough of these scenarios play out. The LAST thing you want is an unhappy bride. Sometimes we have to take our losses. I’ve had only a few Bridezillas in my lifetime. The problem, wasn’t the band but we still get roped into her unhappiness. NO ONE IS SAFE! Thankfully this particular bride had a blast at her reception and gave us a phenomenal review!

I can’t gauge what this wedding season has in store for me (Dear God, Please don’t send any Disney fanatics!) but it’s going to be a great year!

Cheers to road ahead!
